Hiking

Point Bonita and Rodeo Lagoon

11/20/2004   --   It was a beautiful day in the Bay Area, cristal clear and balmy. Usually sunny days by the ocean come with strong winds, but this one was both bright and calm. We were still home at noon, but could not resist the urge to go outside hiking even with a late start. So we inched through the heavy city traffic and crossed the Golden Gate under glorious sunshine, and drove on along the coast of the rugged Marin headlands.

IMG_5008 The road down to Point Bonita was as thrilling as a roller coaster ride -- a steep one way slide down the hills hugging the coastline, with spectacular views of the ocean and headlands. The little hike itself to the lighthouse was more like an easy (and short) stroll. IMG_5009 IMG_5010

Afterwards we drove on to Rodeo Lagoon, where a trail leads us to Rodeo Beach. The Lagoon was frequented with all sorts of birds, most notably a flock of pelicans that just flew majestically in. IMG_5023 IMG_5024
