| Arriving at Big Sur after dark, we missed our intended campsite, but
stumbled upon a real jewel of a campsite right by Nacimiento Road by the sea. We set up camp under the unlikely combination of bright moonlight and light
rain. After a super chilly night, we woke up to a breathtaking view of the mountains and the sea. This is definitely the best campsite we've
ever camped at, but we will bring more blankets next time!

After much gawking at the surreal desert landscape dotted with the
strange Joshua trees, and much scrambling on the cool rocks, we had a big picnic. Afterwards, certain members of our
expedition had a siesta. |
| But the main event of the day was just about to start.
With the help of two US Marines, Matthew set up top rope on an impressing looking wall of rock. Everyone tried his/her hands (and feet) on the rocks,
and great fun was had by all. |
