It is now 2005. How time flies! I still remember the time when I thought the year 2000 would never come... and it seemed almost like yesterday. Well, hopefully the new year will bring everyone fine health, good luck, much fun and great adventures.
We're spent a nice xmas with the merry folks of Pasadena, where it was just as cold as the Bay Area. (So much for my hopes for wearing my tanktops!) We had a good time eating, skiing, hiking, mini-golfing, shopping, and eating... Here's the trip report and photos (click on the pictures or links to start slide shows):
Xmas 2004 |
| Day 1, xmas eve in pasadena  ... Upon our arrival, everyone was excited to see each other, and the piles of gifts under Jia's heroic tree. We feasted on Yongyi's Peking Duck and other yummies before digging into the gift pile. Fun was had by all, expecially Michelle and Tiffany. |
Day 2, skiing snow valley ... Miraculously we all got up by 7 and by the time we hit the slopes we got prime parking! The weather was balmy enough for some to ski in t-shirts and all the snow was man-made. But everyone made progress on remembering how to ski, except Matthew, who perfected his skills as coach and bodyguard for lesser skiers.
| Day 3, palm springs... We started the day with a strenuous (for the kids at least) hike in the lovely palm groves along running springs, in the middle of a scrubby desert. In the afternoon we all tried our hands at the putting range in the hotel. Unfortunately, there was no sign for any future Tiger Woods among us. |
Day 4, after extensive shopping at a huge outlet mall, we returned to L.A. with loaded cars. In the evening, we pigged out at niangniang's. We also met Nairong's cat Boba-China for the first time. She (as well as her visiting friend) was so shy that we had to spend much time admiring her hiding under the bed.
| Leaving the next morning, the rain accompanied us all the way home. We saw quite a few brilliant rainbows along the way. |
